Everything you wanted to know about CreateQuote — how it works, what it costs, what it can and can't do.

About CreateQuote

What is CreateQuote?

CreateQuote is quoting software built for metal fabrication shops. It helps turn a job description into a detailed internal shop quote and a clean customer-facing proposal.

Who is CreateQuote for?

CreateQuote is built for metal fabricators, welders, small fab shops, mobile welders, ornamental iron shops, and custom metal businesses that need faster, more consistent quotes.

Is this for homeowners or customers requesting work?

No. CreateQuote is primarily for the fabricator writing the quote, not the customer requesting the job.

Does CreateQuote replace my judgment as a fabricator?

No. CreateQuote helps create a strong quote draft, but the fabricator stays in control. You should review, edit, and approve the quote before sending it.

Is CreateQuote using AI?

Yes. CreateQuote uses AI-assisted reasoning to help interpret job descriptions, ask follow-up questions, and draft quote details.

Do I need to know how AI works to use CreateQuote?

No. You just describe the job, answer questions, and review the quote like a fabricator.

Can the AI make mistakes?

Yes. That is why CreateQuote is built around review, editing, and fabricator control. You should always check the quote before sending it.

Is CreateQuote finished or still improving?

CreateQuote is actively improving. Early users and beta shops help identify better workflows, edge cases, and quote improvements.

How It Works

How does CreateQuote work?

You enter a job description, answer follow-up questions, and CreateQuote builds a quote draft with materials, cut list, labor, finishing, consumables, assumptions, and proposal-ready language.

Why does CreateQuote ask follow-up questions?

Follow-up questions help clarify details that can affect price, such as material, dimensions, finish, install scope, hardware, access, customer-supplied items, and build details.

Can I use CreateQuote with incomplete job information?

Yes, but CreateQuote may ask more questions before pricing. The better the job description, the faster the quote can be generated.

What should I include in a good job description?

Include dimensions, material, quantity, finish, install or delivery scope, customer-supplied materials, hardware requirements, and any drawings or photos if available.

Can I upload photos or drawings?

If enabled for your account/workflow, photos and drawings can help clarify the job. Even with visuals, written dimensions and scope are still important.

Will CreateQuote ask if something is missing?

Yes. CreateQuote is designed to ask for missing quote-critical details before pricing when the answer could materially affect the quote.

What if I want to price it anyway?

In some cases, you may choose to proceed with a review note or shop-standard assumption, but you should understand what is being assumed before sending the quote.

Quote Output

Can I edit the quote after it is generated?

Yes. You can review and adjust labor, materials, consumables, finishing, hardware, and other quote details before sending the proposal.

Does CreateQuote generate a customer proposal?

Yes. CreateQuote creates a cleaner customer-facing proposal separate from the internal shop quote.

What is the difference between the shop quote and customer proposal?

The shop quote is for internal review and includes more detail. The customer proposal is polished for the customer and avoids exposing unnecessary internal shop math.

Does CreateQuote produce a cut list?

Yes. CreateQuote can generate a cut list as part of the internal shop quote.

Does CreateQuote create a build sequence?

Yes. CreateQuote can provide a shop-facing build sequence to help review fabrication steps, assumptions, and workflow.

Customization

Can I customize my shop information?

Yes. You can add your shop name, logo, contact information, hourly rates, markup, quote tag, and quote numbering.

Can I set my own hourly rate?

Yes. CreateQuote uses your shop's configured labor rates so quotes reflect your business, not someone else's.

Can I set different shop and field rates?

Yes. You can set separate in-shop and on-site/field labor rates.

Can I change my quote number format?

Yes. You can configure your quote tag and starting quote number so proposals match your shop's style.

Pricing & Materials

Does CreateQuote include material pricing?

CreateQuote can estimate material pricing using its current catalog and logic, but fabricators should confirm pricing with their own suppliers when needed.

Are material prices guaranteed?

No. Material prices vary by supplier, location, timing, quantity, and availability. CreateQuote helps estimate, but your distributor pricing is the final authority.

Does CreateQuote account for consumables?

Yes. CreateQuote can include consumables such as welding wire, gas, grinding discs, flap discs, paint, primer, and related shop supplies.

Does CreateQuote handle finishing?

Yes. CreateQuote can account for in-house finishing, outsourced powder coating, painting, primer, clear coat, raw finish, and other finish scopes depending on the job.

Does CreateQuote handle customer-supplied materials?

Yes. If the customer supplies material, hardware, or other items, CreateQuote can keep those out of the billed material total while still including them in the build scope.

Does CreateQuote include taxes?

CreateQuote can account for tax settings where configured, but users should confirm tax rules for their own location and business.

Does CreateQuote include deposits?

CreateQuote can calculate proposal totals and deposit amounts depending on your settings and workflow.

Job Types & Scope

Does CreateQuote support custom fabrication jobs?

Yes. CreateQuote supports a wide range of custom fab jobs, including railings, gates, tables, shelves, brackets, frames, planters, fire pits, automotive work, industrial fab, and general custom projects.

What if my job type is not listed?

Use the custom fabrication option and describe the job as clearly as possible.

Can CreateQuote quote complex jobs?

Yes, but complex jobs may require more follow-up questions and closer review before sending.

Can I quote install work?

Yes. CreateQuote can include delivery, field install, site access, travel, anchoring, and other install-related scope when provided.

Can I use CreateQuote for mobile welding?

Yes. Mobile welders can use CreateQuote, especially when field labor, travel, access, and on-site scope are part of the job.

Shop Tools & Recommendations

Will my customer see shop advice or tool suggestions?

No. Shop advice is intended for the operator/fabricator, not the customer proposal.

What are shop tool suggestions?

CreateQuote may suggest tools or shop aids that could improve the workflow for a job. These are not automatically billed to the customer.

Does CreateQuote recommend Fireball Tools?

CreateQuote may include shop-facing recommendations based on curated fabrication knowledge and tool catalogs. Any purchase links or official brand relationship would depend on approval and future setup.

Can I remove tool suggestions?

Yes. Tool suggestions are informational and operator-controlled.

Plans, Support & Getting Started

Can I use CreateQuote for real paid jobs?

Yes, but you are responsible for reviewing the final quote, confirming supplier pricing where needed, and approving the proposal before sending it.

How much time can CreateQuote save?

Many fabrication quotes can take hours to write manually. CreateQuote is designed to reduce that time significantly by drafting the structure, math, and proposal language for you.

Does CreateQuote guarantee I will make money on every job?

No software can guarantee profitability. CreateQuote helps you quote more thoroughly, but your rates, review process, supplier costs, and business judgment still matter.

Can I cancel or change my plan?

Plan changes depend on the billing setup available in your account.

How do I report an issue or bad quote output?

Send the quote number, job description, what looked wrong, and what you expected. Real-world feedback helps improve the system quickly.

What is the best way to get started?

Set up your shop profile, configure your rates, run a simple quote first, review the shop quote, then try a more complex real job.
